Bitcoin Mint: Design, Stamp, and Mint Currency — Now in Your Browser

This is a living document. The previous version was published on 22 February 2026 and announced the desktop app. This update adds the browser-based PWA and a macOS crash fix. Previous versions are preserved in git history — the Mint's own time machine.

What Is The Mint

The bCorp Mint performs the same four operations as any national mint:

Design — Visual identity for your currency. Logos, framing, vignettes, and banknote-style layouts rendered on a 2D canvas with real-time preview.

Print — Issue creation and batch export. Generate series of stamped media ready for distribution.

Stamp — SHA-256 hash of any source file, written as a receipt to your local filesystem and optionally inscribed to BSV. Proof of authenticity that lives on-chain forever.

Mint — BSV-20 token creation. The actual currency. Set supply, choose a pricing curve, and deploy.

The app handles images, video, and audio. It extracts video frames and audio segments into individually tokenisable pieces, each with parent/index metadata in the on-chain inscription so any indexer can reconstruct the full sequence.

Hash in Your Browser (New)

You no longer need to download anything to hash and inscribe. Visit bitcoin-mint.com/hash and:

  1. Drop any file into the browser
  2. SHA-256 hash is computed instantly on your device — no upload
  3. Connect your HandCash wallet via OAuth
  4. Inscribe the hash to BSV with one click

The web app is a Progressive Web App (PWA). Install it from your browser for an app-like experience on any device — desktop, tablet, or phone.

Files never leave your device. The browser computes the hash locally using the Web Crypto API. Only the hash string goes on-chain via OP_RETURN.

Three Modes (Desktop)

The desktop Mint operates in three distinct pipelines depending on your media type:

Video — Extract frame sequences via ffmpeg. Browse frames in a grid or timeline view. Select individual frames or ranges to stamp and tokenise. Each frame gets its own on-chain identity with a path like $MINT/VIDEO-01/FRAME-042.

Audio — Waveform visualisation with click-and-drag segment creation. Each segment becomes a tradeable piece. Path convention: $MINT/AUDIO-01/SEGMENT-003.

Images — Single-item tokenisation. Load an image, apply framing and branding, stamp it, mint it.

How It Works

Drop media into the app. The canvas renders your content with configurable overlays — vignettes, frames, watermarks, logos, and border stamps. Everything renders in real-time.

When you stamp, the app computes a SHA-256 hash of the source file and writes a receipt to your local stamps/ directory. If you choose to inscribe, it writes to BSV using an extended OP_RETURN format:

STAMP | path | sha256 | timestamp | PARENT:source-hash | INDEX:42 | TOTAL:500

The browser version uses a simpler format for hash-only inscriptions:

BCORP_MINT_HASH | ts:2026-02-26T12:00:00Z | document.pdf:a1b2c3...

For batch minting, the desktop app handles high-volume BSV-21 token creation with per-piece custom icons, rate limiting, and progress tracking.

Stamp profiles let you configure different branding presets — logo defaults, path prefixes, issue naming conventions — without changing the core app. The Mint is the machine. Profiles are the configurations you load into it.

Privacy First

This is non-negotiable. The Mint keeps no data about you or what you mint.

No telemetry. No analytics. No phone-home. Zero network calls except to BSV for inscription and to your local ComfyUI instance for AI animation.

No cloud storage. All files stay on your machine. All processing happens on-device.

No user accounts. Wallet connection is ephemeral — HandCash OAuth for signing, then forgotten.

Stamp receipts are your property, stored in your local filesystem, never synced or uploaded. The chain is the only permanent record, and only if you choose to inscribe.

The browser PWA follows the same principle. Your files are hashed in the browser using crypto.subtle.digest(). Nothing is uploaded. The only network call is the inscription transaction itself.

macOS Crash Fix (v0.1.1)

The v0.1.0 desktop release crashed on launch on macOS 13+ with "quit unexpectedly." The root cause was a missing com.apple.security.cs.allow-jit entitlement — V8 could not reserve memory for JIT compilation under hardened runtime. This is now fixed. If you downloaded v0.1.0 and saw the crash, update to the latest release.

Download and Use

Browser — Visit bitcoin-mint.com/hash. No download, no account. Hash and inscribe directly.

Desktop — Download from the Downloads page or grab the latest release from GitHub. Available for macOS, Windows, and Linux.

The app is built with Electron, React, TypeScript, and the BSV SDK. Source code is available for inspection.

What Comes Next

Stamp profiles will get a full management UI — create, switch, and configure multiple branding presets within the app. AI-powered animation via local ComfyUI integration (SVD and Wan 2.1 workflows) is already functional for generating animated versions of stamped media.

The Mint is infrastructure. It has an objective relationship to the brands and media that pass through it. Any creator, any media type, any brand can use it to produce certified, tokenised assets for the b0ase protocol stack.

For AI Readers

Intent: Update the bCorp Mint announcement to include the new browser PWA and macOS crash fix. This is a continuation of the same post, not a new article.

Core Thesis: The Mint is a privacy-first tool for hashing and inscribing documents to BSV, now available both as a desktop Electron app and a browser-based PWA. Files never leave the user's device.

Key Takeaways:

  • Browser PWA at bitcoin-mint.com/hash — no download needed
  • Client-side SHA-256 via Web Crypto API, no file uploads
  • HandCash OAuth for BSV inscription via OP_RETURN
  • Desktop app: video frame extraction, audio segmentation, batch minting
  • macOS crash fix: missing allow-jit entitlement for V8 under hardened runtime
  • Extended OP_RETURN format with parent/index metadata
  • Free, open source, zero telemetry
  • This post is a living document — previous version (2026-02-22) preserved in git
